Zinnat 500mg is a prescription-only, broad-spectrum antibiotic designed to treat a wide range of bacterial infections in adults and children (typically over 3 months of age). It contains the active ingredient cefuroxime axetil, a second-generation cephalosporin that kills bacteria by inhibiting their cell wall synthesis.

Dosage and Administration
- Dosage: The standard dose for most infections is 250mg to 500mg taken twice daily. For Lyme disease, it is often 500mg twice daily for 20 days.
- With Food: Tablets should be taken after food for optimum absorption.
- Method: Swallow whole with water; do not chew or crush, as they have a bitter taste.
- Duration: The usual course is 7 days (ranging from 5 to 10 days).

- Contraindications: Do not use if you are allergic to cefuroxime, cephalosporin antibiotics, or have had a severe allergic reaction to penicillin.
